Maybe this is why:
While the exact number of FTC positions eliminated under the Trump administration has not been specified, these developments suggest a substantial reduction in the agency’s workforce, affecting its ability to fulfill its consumer protection and antitrust enforcement responsibilities.
OR Feds don't look into things that aren't actually reported to them.

I'm used to the banal explanations for the strange noises of my old ICE vehicles, and so when I got my Daytona it opened my life up to a whole new world of strange noises and their possible explanations! Phooey, thanks for demystifying some of these processes that still seem exotic to some of us.
Yeah, SERIOUS contactors, they handle basically ALL the current from the EV pack. I think it is about 1000 amps, right?

State Attorney Generals would love to sink their teeth into this.
I mean paying off a porn star was considered racketeering so this should be far more serious in their eyes.

A few days ago I finally got wrenched.
View attachment 1941

Ironically a few days before that I received a phone call from Free2Move, informing me I need to do an update on my battery pack control module.

I called my local dealer and they told me they didn't know anything about this, they are super busy and couldn't get to me for weeks, and maybe I should call around because they don't even have a charger at this location.

I called Free2move back and they assisted me in setting up an appointment at a local dealer who actually knew what this issue was.

I'll have an update after I drop my car off next week.
I see you were traveling, when you got the “Wrench”, did you stop & turn off your vehicle & restart it? That seems to be the fix for a few issues with these vehicles. I have gotten the “Wrench” a few times sitting in my garage and turning my vehicle off, waiting a few minutes & turning it back on made it go away.
Yes, I stopped at the store. Turned off the car and turned it back on. Wrench was still present. Noticed that the HV battery was dropping a percent about every 3 minutes while sitting in my car idle after turning it back on. Luckily the dealership was a couple miles away so drove it to the dealership that wasn’t too far away

Chris, If Dodge Cared, you would be proactive and contact your partner, Free2Move, on your own, to find out what the issue is and not rely on a customer to do it for you. Since these vehicles are so new, Dodge Dealers DO NOT have a clue about what is going on! Having to wait 2 or 3 weeks, without the vehicle, while the Dealer tries to figure out a solution is ridiculous, IMHO!

We can understand where you're coming from, Sammy. However, we would like to take a moment to clarify for you that Dodge Cares is the Social Engagement Team for FCA. Our team does not make any outgoing calls. We do monitor forums and social media platforms to assist customers currently experiencing vehicle concerns and connect them with a Case Specialist to work with their dealers throughout the repair process. We also track trends so that the appropriate parties are made aware of what concerns our customers are experiencing while relaying them to our internal teams for potential assistance.

Sounds like an update to the battery pack control module should be a RECALL from
Dodge!

All four times I have DC fast charged my Charger, the sound of contactors opening and closing could be heard for the first few minutes. I've never heard any other sound other than the whirring of the cooling fans.
On the Model 3, it sounds like someone is smacking the bottom of the car with a large hammer! It's quite startling! The contactors made a distinct clank, but this was much louder and sort of resonated. I wonder if winter salt may make it worse (like the expansion joints get a little sticky, then let go of all the strain in large bursts).. but you'd think that would all be sealed and internal.

Yeah that's the case with my trunk that won't open also. It's SUPER FUN to do when you're at the grocery store and you can't put groceries in the back of your car w/out cycling the power 2-3 times, lock/unlock a few, wait for it to go to sleep, then do a rain dance while everyone looks at your like your crazy.

It's also SUPER FUN to do at the airport when you arrive after a trip and want to throw your suitcase in the back, standing there w/out a coat in the freezing cold (because you left it IN the trunk), wondering when it might finally open. And when you drive an 1+ hour home, standing in the dark driveway and can't get the suitcase out while you do the pee pee because you can't hardly hold it any more.

Sorry for thread-jacking... I just hate this stupid, UNFIXED trunk issue.

So sad!!! Plus Dodge doesn’t have a clue how to fix it. But Dodge will recommend dropping it off at a Dealership for 2 to 3 weeks while they “look” at it and your without it for that time for a trunk lid that won’t open & close reliable.
Such a beautiful car to be having this many problems that Dodge doesn’t know how to fix.
I think we might be very close to filing a Class Action Lawsuit to get Stellantis’ attention!

The dealer tech looked at it for 2 hrs straight. The service manager was helping him the whole time too (it was dead and they weren't very busy at the time). They verified the problem consistently and said there was no TSB or software update, so in the end, they shrugged their shoulders and said they'd let me know if they saw an update come out. The R/T in their showroom did NOT have any issue.

DodgeCares took down my info and gave me a case number, but that doesn't seem to go anywhere either.

I guess I'm just thankful my car isn't going into turtle mode and having unintended acceleration issues... that one's going to be a much bigger deal than a Class Action suit when someone gets killed, sadly.

Anyone else noticed that the Active Driving Assistant is pretty "wobbly"? I am coming from a Tesla, so have very high expectations because their tech is pretty stellar, but in the couple days I have had the car, I have had multiple instances where the car veers very close to the line separating the lanes and, in one instance, actually veered over the line. There was nothing about the conditions (road, visibility of markings, other drivers, etc) that I could see would have caused this.
Yes. I noticed the same thing. I have had to put in some slight steering input because it felt like I was drifting too close to the car in the next lane.
I did turn the lane keeping settings to medium when I first got it. I am going to try turning the settings back up to where they were initially and see if that makes a difference.

Making a thread for what I see as actual problems with the new car. These could be user error (I doubt it) and I will RTFM some more and post back if I am wrong.
  1. Resetting/lowering of regen levels (e-coasting). This is BAD to me. It affects how quickly the car slows down and if it changes drive to drive let alone DURING a drive without you touching the paddles, that is REALLY BAD. Yes, I can learn around it and it isn't random, it's when changing modes or starting the car. But still bad. Even more so for people coming from other EVs that don't do that.
  2. Climate default to OFF every vehicle start. I have to touch the "Auto/Eco" button turn turn it back on.
  3. Volumes keep resetting. You can set Volumes for maybe different things. Android Auto/ Google Maps keeps resetting to way too loud.

Minor issues not actual "Problems"
  1. When turning the Volume Knob, my knuckle frequently will touch the screen and hit the Nav button switching the display. Maybe a bigger knob, longer knob, delay on the button being active while turning the knob, USER TRAINING would resolve?
So far, all software issues, otherwise car seems solid to me.
The worst part of the regen changing levels is if you have regen on the highest level and put the ACC cruise control on. If there is no car in front of you and you need to disable the ACC to slow down or stop, you hit the brake slightly with no accel pedal and the regen kicks back on to full. Its like you slammed the brakes on fully.

YEP, my USAA Safe Pilot APP, constantly dings me for HARSH BRAKING!!! I called USAA, and informed them that, I drive an EV Vehicle that uses REGENERATION BRAKING which is by design and that their USAA Safe Pilot App considers it HARSH BRAKING. I informed them that their USAA Safe Pilot App needs to be updated for EV Vehicles. I am sure it went in one ear and out the other!

I noticed there was a "cap" for the J-1772 port, and thought that was weird. I guess this explains why there is one?

I've never before seen a cap for a J-1772 port.
@MoparTechJordan can you get the part number for this J-1772 cap? My dealer swears the cars don't come with them and they can't find a part number?!?! I go thru car wash several times per week and don't want an issue....I DO find water inside the door each time when I'm drying so the seal on the charge port door is not 100% effective.

FWIW, I am very certain that the J1772 standard is that the port is weatherproof. They are designed to be charging out in the rain and snow. Yes, the charge connector would be covering the port at that time, but those don't have seals, and in a heavy rain, water has to get in. Also, I don't recall seeing any actual part number on mine. I have 3D printed a neat replacement, just for kicks. (out of PLA, not flexible TPU yet).
BUT, since some cars came with it still there, some company must have made them for Dodge...

Are you guys talking about the black, rubberish looking cap that would slide over the charging port?
