According to page 144 of your owners manual.. Do not expose the EVSE J1772 vehicle connector to rain or wet conditions. The cap is used to help avoid allowing water or other liquids to pour or drip onto the vehicle connection end of the J1772 EVSE connector. If water penetrates the electrical device, the risk of electrical shock increases. Ensure that all plugs and cables are free of moisture before using the Portable Charging Cordset (EVSE). If any questions are outstanding, please let us know, and we will do our best to advise.

@DodgeCares Speaking of "Portable Charging Cordset (EVSE)", we (many of us Charger Daytona owners here on this site, were under the impression that this was to be included with our cars. It is shown in manuals and MOPAR videos. Some say "if equipped", but not all of them. Is this something we should all have? If not, WHO/WHAT options, have this equipped?

I think (not sure) that it releases automatically in reverse, but not drive. Something un-intuitive like that. Either way, yep, weirdness.
I've also pressed to release it, had the light go out, try to move the car, looked down and the light is back on.

Seat belt sequence maybe? I always use one, but I used to buckle it last, usually after I was on my way after leaving parking spot/garage... One car I had broke me of that habit for some reason. I still may unbuckle as I pull into my driveway on instinct/autopilot though.

Seat belt sequence maybe?
Hadn't thought of that! I'm usually obsessive about putting my seatbelt on if I'm going somewhere, but I don't when I'm just shuffling cars around the driveway. I'll have to test it.

I figured out the always having to turn hvac back on. I'll post later and edit the old posts. But to sum up...
Race-prep doesn't turn off. So it keeps hvac off each startup.
Also, this seems to affect Remote Start/Climate!

Hopefully, then it at least makes sense, and is solved.
I think it, or one of my cars (The Polestar 2 , or the KIA EV6) when you are stopped and unbuckle, it applies the brake instantly.
I've had to re-learn (de-learn) how to get in and out and start/stop the car.
The Polestar2 HAS NO START BUTTON. You get in, buckle up, pick reverse or "drive" (shifter has no "Park") and drive. Parking brake is automatic. If you have a valid key, and are in the seat, car is on. Open door (assuming you are stopped), car goes into Park automatically. Stand up, car turns off automatically. The KIA is also reasonably normal compared to other cars, so it isn't a shock back to the dark ages, but I mainly drove the Polestar.

That info is on page 16 of mine and refers to keeping the EVSE (which I'm still trying to find out if we are supposed to have or not!) connector dry, not the connector on the car itself.

Our team is actively looking into this, Freddy. For added measure, have you ensured that the sensors associated with your seat is clear of any potential debris that could trigger this malfunction? We appreciate any knowledge given as we look into this.

Hi Chris
I have faced similar passenger rear seat entry feature , the seat comes back without touching anything. I checked for obstacle , but nothing I could find

After looking into this more. Here is what we found: PowerShot should work as designed if the battery is above a 20% state of charge, and if battery temp is between 41F and 113F. Operating your vehicle at max power in Drag mode is the only time PowerShot becomes unavailable.

@DodgeCares
Well, this is incorrect, or a defect, or a bug, or incomplete...
I tried many times today. I tried in various drive modes, and EV battery charge percentage was between 50% and 60%. The EV Battery temperature was 45°F or higher, most recent was at 50°. EV Motors were at 65°F or higher. The low voltage battery was higher than 14 volts as well.
Also, I will be adding these to the list.
  • DXR needs turned on at times. When I drove it this morning I had to open up DXR, then hit "Start Recording". When I drove this evening, it was recording without doing anything.
  • I occasionally lose "Favorite" apps. I had Settings and others there, lost them 3-4 times so ony haveSettings in there now until I'm sure it will "stick" before I keep re-adding things.
  • I also lost "Favorite" camera settings. Three times now, I've setup 4 cameras (Left and Right curb side front and back tire views) and they go away.

New updated list
EDIT: Updated Fed 10th
@DodgeCares, knock yourself out.

My issues/questions (so far) are, in a basically order of importance (to me)

  1. Safety issue - Regen levels reset to some arbitrary default of 1,2, or 3 after changing drive mode. This is bad, very bad. Once set, it should never change, even after a re-start. This affects braking, heck it IS braking, and the braking changes, as you drive is not safe.
EDIT: and is inconsistent, sometimes "Custom" reverts from 3 to2, and sometimes from 3 to 1, that is even more irksome to me.
  2. Drive mode resets to Auto after restart (and resets regen level from 3) - The ability to have a Custom setup is a great feature of the car, but if it resets, and you have to go through other modes to get to it after a restart is again, not safe. The car drives differently when you re-start it, then before you turned it off.
  3. Main dash display resets after restart/drive mode change. - This is just weird. There are what, a dozen different combinations of displays, and it resets just by choosing Custom or Auto, or restarting your car (I think, I'll double check)?
  4. Resolved, but still needs documented and explained by Dodge
    DXR USB Drive Requirements
    - I only get "External storage is corrupt or damaged, Please reinsert or reformat this device" with an entertaining graphic of a smashed USB Thumb Drive. I've tried several of different age/size, formatted different ways (I am an I.T. professional for decades) and I get the same each time. No where in the manuals does it state what the requirements are. Via adapter from USB A to USB C, the USB drives I tried all work from the front 2 ports for media. So the car can read them. I suspect it is a software issue with the DXR itself? EDIT: exFAT less than 512K total number of Allocation Units works
  5. Powershot requirements - I get the message almost all the time that it is unavailable due to battery level. No where was this ever mentioned in the advertising, or online, or in any of the manuals I fully reviewed before purchase. And also, it doesn't state anywhere WHAT the LEVEL actually is, or its requirements. (I assume charge level, but maybe temperature? It is very cold here, 20° tops so far.) If it is charge level, it seems to be 75% needed? If so, that plain sucks, period. You have the highly recommended option to only charge to 80% then right after you leave you lose power? I get it, but this should be fully explained before purchase. Basically, I am not getting the advertised power that he car should have. That is one of the main reasons to buy the car in the first place. According to @DodgeCares , SOC over 20% and EV Battery Temp over 41°F
EDIT: BUT, this is NOT what I am experiencing. My car has exceeded those threasholds and still get the message unavailable due to battery level.
  6. Fratzonic "Exhaust" - Honestly, I really expected to hate it and turn it off. This is my 3rd full EV after 2 PHEVs. Previously a Polestar 2 with Performance Pack and Performance Upgrade, and we still have a KIA EV6 Gt Line. I've never liked fake anything on a car. The sound of it is REALLY growing on me, I use "Custom" drive mode so only "Sport" powertrain is set, everything else is "Street". And my wife, she hated it, but is not probably indifferent while driving to the sound in Sport Mode. BUT, (everything before "But" is B.S.) the startup/shutdown sounds are not as desirable. Especially when you have it in Auto Mode with Street selected. The driving sounds are faint, and a non-issue, but you still get forced to hear that (according to my wife "Obnoxious") startup/shutdown sounds. I get it, I like it, typically. But in the garage, when people are sleeping, or the dog hears it, I want it off. It takes 4 selections on the touch screen (WITH Settings as a favorite) to get to "EV Sounds" to turn it off, and back on.
TLDR: Please make some, or all options to do:
    • A setting in Custom Drive Mode for EV sounds and/or startup/shutdown sounds.
    • A special icon somewhere in uConnect to toggle sound (or just startup/shutdown)
    • A quick setting thing at the top on the uConnect same as above
    • At minimum, anormal choice in Settings to turn off "Startup/Shutdown" sounds separate from driving/idle sounds (which are cool).
  7. The HVAC needed to be turned on after every start, this seems to be resolved after the updates, if so, thanks! EDIT: Still happening, not sure of the trigger.
EDIT of EDIT: I think I've figured it out. RACE PREP! It stays on (even though it doesn't appear to ever change anything, will be issue #8) Race Prep turns off HVAC, on restart, Race Prep stays on, and turns off HVAC, even if you turned it on last time!
  8. Race Prep - Drag Mode - Doesn't seem to actually achieve anything. I turn it on, leave it alone for say 10 minutes, and the timer stays at 20:00. every now and then it will go to 19:59, then back to 20:00. Battery Temp never seems to rise.
Track Mode - gives a message about battery level (again, what battery, what level? I ass-u-me it is HV battery temp, but nothing found about it yet.
  9. DXR needs turned on at times. When I drove it this morning I had to open up DXR, then hit "Start Recording". When I drove this evening, it was recording without doing anything.
  10. I occasionally lose "Favorite" apps. I had Settings and others there, lost them 3-4 times so ony haveSettings in there now until I'm sure it will "stick" before I keep re-adding things.
  11. I also lost "Favorite" camera settings. Three times now, I've setup 4 cameras (Left and Right curb side front and back tire views) and they go away.
  12. Screenshot overlays private information. This should be a toggle on/off so people don't have to edit the images to hide their VIN or precise location. Screenshots might be from in your driveway, and you don't want to broadcast that to the entire world.
  13. Screenshot Odometer overlay - At random times will put distance in Kilometers, not Miles. Seems to "stick" right or wrong for the entire drive cycle.

It's a shame. The camera favorites are cool. Those front tire views are the best I've seen. Awesome for drive-throughs.

Also I updated my list in post #130

Here are screen shots of the drive yesterday. PowerShot never worked.
Also, another issue for the list. On the drive to the store, Odometer: showed in Kilometers. On the drive back, it showed (correctly) in miles. I made no changes.

On the way to the store.

Previous day (also PowerShot didn't work) and Odometer was incorrectly in Kilometers

I’ve found that the climate schedule is super buggy. One, if I get in the vehicle and hit the power button, it just shuts all the way down, and then have to power it back up. The same with the remote start to get the climate going. Can’t sort out how to get in and drive without power cycling the whole car.

The second is the center screen, when starting up after the climate schedule runs, the side and top of the screen are blank, so can’t get to carplay or any other features without power cycling it again.

I've noticed another quirk that may be similar. When I "start" the car for climate via the phone app, then go to the car and open it, you get the exhaust sound. Then getting in, my seat is in the driving position, not the entry position. It is like the car is actually ready to drive, like you are in it. IMHO the seat shouldn't move until you are in, and hit the start button. I'll have to double check it, but I'm pretty sure this happened to me 2x.

New problem found, on the passenger side, when using the rear seat easy entry feature, the seat moves forward as far as possible and comes back without me touching anything, as if there was an obstacle but there is not.
This morning I noticed this on the driver's seat. The passenger side front seat worked as expected. I was putting in a rear child seat for my grandson (WHAT A PITA!!!!!) and the driver's side seat kept cycling back. I just put a small amount of pressure on it and it would stop. Then It stayed there, and I had to hit my memory button to have it return to normal operation. I'll check the tracks to ensure it could move all the way.
I must say, I do like how they work though (assuming they do work correctly). I suspect that the obstruction sensitivity is too high or something.

Last night. EV battery showed 52 degrees or higher (and my charge percentage was over 70) . PowerShot worked every time.
My guess is either the number is higher than 42 degrees, measured somewhere else, or the gauges are wrong...

Discussion starter · #140 ·
Worked again today at 50 degrees battery temp (from the garage) and 65%ish charge.
Then after being outside, battery temps dropped and it wouldn't work.
And 50F is 10C, so I'm betting that's the cutoff. I'm pretty sure it never worked under 48F and always worked over 50F. So with rounding, time at temp...
Also DCFC RAPIDLY warmed the battery.
