Surprise OTA, Surprising Results

Like many other owners, I was surprised with the OTA update that was issued yesterday, and further amused when I clicked on the "What's new?" button on the success message only to get a "page not found" error. Yay.

Coincidentally (or maybe not), I've seen some interesting behaviors since which are either related or sheer chance but I thought I'd share them here:
  1. Within 2km of leaving work after applying the update I got a "red lobster" alert, the first I'd seen since the front motor disconnect TSB was applied a couple weeks ago
  2. When I remote started from my fob this morning I got the startup sound (I'd never gotten that starting from the fob previously). Caught me off-guard, too, since I was up early to drive a friend to the airport and I'm afraid it might have disrupted my neighbors.
  3. When I got to the car after that remote start there was a loud, disturbing clicking sound coming from under the hood and I surmise that might be the front motor disconnect. The car pulled away without incident though.
I get that OTA updates are supposed to be "uconnect only" but I find it interesting that these behaviors presented so quickly afterwards.

It didn't give a version, I just got a notification on the center screen that there was an update waiting to be applied just as I was getting back to work from lunch (2:30pm Pacific) and when I got in to drive away at the end of the day the screen showed a message that had been applied successfully. There was a "What's new?" button but as I say, when I pressed that it just showed an alert that release notes were not available.

On the Daytona Owner's Facebook group I saw a few other users report the OTA as well, so it wasn't just me.

Constantly with JS threats running amuck on this forum causing it to hang. I work on a complicated web application for a living so I know my way around this tech unfortunately. I dug into it a few days ago and it's runaway script in the advertisements they serve up in iframes. I didn't dig deeper. An AD blocker might snuff the issues out.

speaking of, anyone block ads/3rd party stuff via their own router/dns?
feel free to start a generic thread if you have info, don't want to muddle up this thread tooo much.

I've had no problem with OTA updates but I need to drop mine off Monday morning for it's first scheduled service visit and a performance update that must be completed at the dealership.

Afterwards I expect to be testing new limits with some sideways driving!

Sidewinder mode is a retrofit on '24s.

Still waiting for the latest OTA update from Dodge to rename my electronic fart can button... Any.day.now...

I have not done a recent Uconnect update, but I recently had the TSB applied. I only once have had the red wrench pop up (seeming to be axles based on a clunk I heard) and same thing happened with underhood clicking the next time I went to drive it. It cleared up once I started the car and I've not had that issue since - and I've put a couple hundred miles on since then.

Anxiously trying to see IF my car connects and downloads this. Putzing around on my router and found this.
My car has not used any significant data in the last 30 days.

Thanks to @Phooey I was able to search on the MAC Address prefix F8:6D:CC
It pops up briefly so I sorted my connections on MAC Address, and it popped up briefly.
The "Uconnect-" must be a self reported client name from the car, I did not enter that into my router.

Yes. Most DHCP clients have a name and that is what your router is retaining and to be addressable on your network using that name so you don't need to remember IP addresses etc. That can be an issue of you have 2 vehicles reporting the same client name. Only one Uconnect could be reachable by name on your network. Wonder if that affects the mobile app or not with aims of the bugs you folks report around it not connecting...

Nah, you don't connect TO your car, you connect to the internet server, that connects to your car. That name is just a label IN the router, not an actual DNS name on your network or anything like that. I have MANY items that are listed identically on my router.

The way of the world of tech I can't stand. Everything requires a server from someone who's gonna go out of business in 5 years....or switch to subscription payment model....
