Apparently Dodge doesn't call the Daytona a "Muscle Car" anymore...

Dodge Charger 2026 - World's Most Powerful Muscle Car
Image

THIS ^ Is about the Gasoline Charger (See the hood & exhaust, not the Daytona). You know this one here.
And with its 550hp, it is the "World's Most Powerful Muscle Car"
And since my car, you know, like this
Image

Has more power, than the "Most Powerful" muscle car, just by logic, mine must no longer be a "Muscle Car". Thanks Dodge for stabbing us in the back again for being Beta Testers.
Yes, I know there is a tiny (2) there after it. And that says excludes other FCA models like mine I guess...
Image

And the page for the Daytona also still says IT is the most powerful muscle car.
SO, to sum up
1 - Dodge, make up you (and our) mind(s)
2 - Daytona owners should be ticked that they are kind of hinting we don't have Muscle Cars
3 - Sixpack Buyers should be ticked thinking they got the "most powerful" when they don't, not remotely.
And "NO", I'm not upset, or regretful about MY car. But it is just things that I personally notice thinking WHY DODGE, WHY?

I'd find the notion of owning a 'muscle car' embarrassing and a poor description of the car if I cared what anyone else thought.
This. A big WHO TF CARES from me as well. It's the car I bought, I bought it for reasons, and so far it is living up to those reasons just fine.

I don't really care what they call it! I call it freaking awesome! Once the bugs are worked through this is some comfortable, fast, handy car.

I gotta laugh at all the bait click youtubers who posted how heavy it was in the corners on the track for a muscle car and handling was blah blah blah.

Who "GAS"! They are probably the only people who have had one of these on the track! Hardly anyone who buys one of these is going to go racing in it.

On the road this is just one comfortable and enjoyable car to drive.

My point was, Dodge can't seem to find a way to be consistent.
First thing, (my opinion) they never should have called this car a Charger, just for the whole confusion with the Sixpack. Hell, they renamed those trims twice (S.O. - H.O., GT - Outlaw, R/T - Scat Pack!
Then, back to the Daytonas, the whole R/T with optional (mandatory) Stage 1 upgrade, then the Scat Pack with optional (mandatory) Stage 2 upgrade. Now people are saying "I have a Charger Level 1" "I have a Stage 2"... And the 2026 won't have either, but will be the same. And we were told buying the First Call that 2025s will have less power unless people pay for the Stage 1 or Stage 2 (On either a R/T OR Scat Pack) (Which was untrue...).
The whole Muscle Car thing pretty much only made it easier for the hater to have something else to complain about, and they still will since the Sixpack ain't a HEMI. Personally I DO consider mine a muscle car, flat out. That has always been a larger car (not a sports car or pony car) with more power and style, just for plain old, going fast, fun, when you want to, BUT, still works as a family car when you need it to. And to me, that sure as hell sums up my Daytona to me.
And now I gotta go and pick up my dog, and I was going to take our other car, but after watching the first half of Smokey and the Bandit, I'm tuned up for a fun ride there, in my Muscle Car.

I'd personally settle for having the "EV that doesn't look like an aerodynamic egg, ANOTHER CROSSOVER, or glorified grocery getter".

(Rivian and Lucid are the exception, I love Rivian designs and Lucid is the pinnacle of world's fastest grocery getters.)

Then they had a huge hit with the Dodge Caravan and basically invented the minivan, and it was a huge success.

...
My 2002 Chrysler Town & Country Limited was still the best damn vehicle I ever owned. I'd buy another one today. I had it 12 years, longest of anything. I sold it because it was starting to rust, and my kids were grown up and I wanted something else.
...
Then the Viper in the early 90s and the Ram Brand trucks.
...
OR even better, the VIPER IN the Ram Trucks!
I had a 1996 Dodge Intrepid, and it was a great car up to 160K, then they all blew up...
I had a 1993 Intrepid with the 3.5. It had flaky issues (basically a launch/release model as well, think I'd learn). I got it summer of 1992. But it was such a damn nice car in every way. We traded it on a lightly used 1995 Chrysler LHS, and absolutely loved that as well.
My dad still has the 2000 Chrysler Concorde 3.2 he bought brand new. I put 1,000 miles on it in April Vegas-Radford-L.A.-Vegas. Runs and drives like new after 25 years and 130,000? miles. But sound, eh, road noise is BAD, a lot of worn, compressed, used up, (melted down from Vegas heat?) sound deadening. Smooth roads, it is niiiice. Rough asphalt, not so much!

i still consider my daytona superior than a muscle car, i can certainely be wrong, but from a non-born in America perspective muscle car means big engine, big performance on the drag race, but crapy interior and bad on the technology side. Kind of focusing on the big v8 at the cost of the comfort to keepit affordable.
My Daytona has a very nice interior and is very comfortable to ride which makes it above a muscle car. but once again i may be biased here.

I guess technically if I had to label it as correctly as I could, I'd call it a "Grand Tourer". But it is kinda big for that. And most Grand Tourer cars can't dip down into the 11s. 😁

I like to keep it simple. it's just a muscle car with tech ahead of it's time.

Disruptive tech with poor go-to-market strategy from a company that lost her soul, her vision and the ability to succeed due to internal clash of interest and direction with the holding company

A better and more appropriate name for the Daytona EV would be "muscle car killer" or "muscle car owner humbler" (especially if Dodge's claims of the scatpack variant being faster than the Hellcat Redeye is true, as that pretty much covers and dominates essentially every "muscle car" of any brand on the road, aside from the Demon (if fully prepped on a track).

I've got my Daytona on September 14th and even with just the R/T variant, had already humbled an ICE Charger (unsure which variant and didn't get any good look at the badging) within my first week of ownership, who i guess wasn't happy I passed and merged ahead of them, who then attempted to get in the lane next to me at the red and gunned it and me realizing when i heard the roar of their engine what they were attempting and i just simply punched the juice pedal and left em behind even though they had the drop on me before i realized.

Yesterday I man nearby heard my car remote start, he stopped dead in his tracks, asked questions, couldn't believe it was electric til I opened the frunk and showed him! He loved the car, as do I! Sometimes I miss things about my stolen Hellcat but stopping to get gas is not one of them! I haven't been to a gas station in 8 glorious months!

When I step on the pedal and it pins me to the back of the seat, it sure feels like a muscle car to me!!

I had somoething similar happen. They had a car show type thing at the local drag strip, so I stopped in. Not many people there, but I was surprised how well recieved mine was. I was mainly looking at some older cool cars but noticed people around mine, so I remote started it. Then I walked over, and they liked the hood, so I opened it. 1 older guy (older than me...) was stunned it was electric!

Other than filling up the jug for my lawn tractor 2x a year, it has been about 2 years for me. I did have a 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring 1½ years ago, but it was a PHEV, and we drove local 90% of the time on EV. This is my 3rd full EV.
1st - 2021 Polestar 2 Performance with Performance Upgrade (CPO) traded on the Daytona
