The Daytona is at the Chicago Auto Show and they've been showing off its engine noise.
There should be a way to reduce the noise but I believe it's required for the Daytona to make a noise of some kind. It can't be completely quiet.Well, that is 10.6 million times better that what they had at Speed Week, but no. Still the first thing I would do is a Fratzonic delete. {Hopefully that is a factory option} A lot of money being wasted on this.
I also think this is 100% improvement over the grey colored Banshee shown last year. All EV's are required to make a spaceship noise at low speeds. This is done so people hear it coming. I do hope that the Fratzonic Exhaust is an option for those who don't like the sound or at least a "stealth" mode to turn it off.I may have an unpopular opinion, but I very much like the sound of the Banshee. Either this version or the original. I think it is unique and accentuates the car's status as the only EV with a dedicated "exhaust." The Porsche Taycan also makes a phenomenal space-ship-like noise that I think is very retro-future. Being able to shut off or on this exhaust should be a key feature in the production model.
What I find cool is that on idle it might fool some people that don't already know it's an EV. As it revs up it does get noticeably artificial compared to the real deal.I also think this is 100% improvement over the grey colored Banshee shown last year. Honestly, I just hope that it can be configured. Part of me like this new sound, but feels it's trying to emulate a V8 too much. I didn't have a problem with the original noise, since that sounded more like a screaming "Banshee" anyway. I'd rather a unique, fake sound than a fake sound trying to emulate an ICE noise. Here's another video of the Daytona at the Chicago Auto Show.
That will be the "lightweight option" and if it was Porsche they would charge extra for it in the "T" trim....I forget where I saw it, but remember they said each of the 9 trims was going to have a different sound. Of course, they could just change the dbs of each one and call it different. Time shall tell. Except on mine, which will have the entire system physically removed because it is dumb.
