Electrification in Full Force
There is just one standard ICE winner on our 2025 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems' winners list, with the rest electrified.
The basic principles of an electric motor are very old, sure, but not the designs of everything outside of that.Aren't all the propulsion systems re-used designs from over 100 years ago? Battery tech is the only big difference.
Again, I love my Daytona. But I'm not going to pretend it deserves an award for its powertrain. If we're being honest, the powertrain in our Daytonas is quite a bit behind other cars that cost less.I'm not an award expert or critic. just proud to be a Daytona owner and happy it's getting recognized.
I agree. Our cars are some of the most beautiful on the road right now, and so far, mine has been nothing short of excellent. (in the 2 weeks and 1 day I have owned it!) But there is nothing special about the drive train. It is slower than many, it has less range than many, and it has a low top speed due to the 15:1 gearbox. So I see nothing that is award-worthy for the propulsion system. Unless maybe this is more efficient than most others? The basic principles of an electric motor are very old, sure, but not the designs of everything outside of that.

Recognize it for what it is: a damn sexy electric version of the newly redesigned Dodge Charger. Giving it an award that it doesn't deserve just devalues that award.
